Uses for our rare earth block magnets:

Neodymium Bar magnets are well suited to applications where ferrous metal contaminants need to be separated or completely removed from non-ferrous material. This separation is often achieved by passing a bar or block-shaped Neodymium magnet over different materials to attract and remove ferrous contaminants.  Neodymium is a relatively brittle material so enclosing the magnets inside a device or a metal housing allows them to withstand moderate impact and repetitive use. Neodymium Block magnets are often used in combination to create a wide field of magnetism. An example of this type of arrangement is a magnetic knife holder or tool holder. In this situation, the rod magnets are placed end to end to create a magnetic surface that is much wider than an individual magnet could be made. Some types of magnetic equipment have a self-cleaning function so the metal can be disposed of in a safe, hands-free manner. This is achieved by having a mechanical means, such as a lever, that retracts the magnet away from the active surface of the metal housing which, in turn, releases the metal debris that has been magnetically collected.
